We are pretty careful to reject abstract sockets that are too long to fit in
the address structure as a NUL-terminated string. And since we parse sockets as
strings, it is not possible to embed a NUL in the the address either. But we
might receive an external socket (abstract or not), and we want to be able to
print its address in all cases. We would call socket_address_verify() and
refuse to print various sockets that the kernel considers legit.
Let's do the strict verification only in case of socket addresses we parse and
open ourselves, and do less strict verification when printing addresses of
existing sockets, and use c-escaping to print embedded NULs and such.
More tests are added.
This should make LGTM happier because on FIXME comment is removed.
All over the place we define local variables for the various sockopts
that take a bool-like "int" value. Sometimes they are const, sometimes
static, sometimes both, sometimes neither.
Let's clean this up, introduce a common const variable "const_int_one"
(as well as one matching "const_int_zero") and use it everywhere, all
acorss the codebase.
These lines are generally out-of-date, incomplete and unnecessary. With
SPDX and git repository much more accurate and fine grained information
about licensing and authorship is available, hence let's drop the
per-file copyright notice. Of course, removing copyright lines of others
is problematic, hence this commit only removes my own lines and leaves
all others untouched. It might be nicer if sooner or later those could
go away too, making git the only and accurate source of authorship
information.

The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.
hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.
Files which are installed as-is (any .service and other unit files, .conf
files, .policy files, etc), are left as is. My assumption is that SPDX
identifiers are not yet that well known, so it's better to retain the
extended header to avoid any doubt.
I also kept any copyright lines. We can probably remove them, but it'd nice to
obtain explicit acks from all involved authors before doing that.
We'd like to use inotify to get notified when AF_UNIX sockets become
connectable. That happens at the moment of listen(), but this is doesn't
necessarily create in a watchable inotify event. Hence, let's synthesize
one whenever we generically create a socket, or when we know we created
it for a D-Bus server.
Ideally we wouldn't have to do this, and the kernel would generate an
event anyway for this. Doing this explicitly isn't too bad however, as
the event is still nicely associated with the AF_UNIX socket node, and
we generate all D-Bus sockets in our code hence it's safe.
This changes two things when binding to AF_UNIX file system sockets:
1. When wethe socket already exists in the fs, and unlink() on it fails,
don't bother to bind() a second time: since nothing changed it won't
work either.
2. Also use SELinux-aware bind() for the second attempt.
Currently socket_address_listen() calls mac_selinux_bind() to bind a UNIX
socket and checks its return value and errno for EADDRINUSE. This is not
correct. When there's an SELinux context change made for the new socket,
bind() is not the last function called in mac_selinux_bind(). In that
case the last call is setfscreatecon() from libselinux which can change
errno as it uses access() to check if /proc/thread-self is available.
It fails on kernels before 3.17 and errno is set to ENOENT.
It's safe to check only the return value at it's set to -errno.
core: Add flexible way to provide socket type
the socket type should be a diffrent argumet
in make_socket_fd . In this way we can set the socket
type like SOCK_STREAM SOCK_DGRAM in the address.
journal-remote: modify make_socket_fd
bind() fails if it is called before setting SO_REUSEPORT and another
process is already binded to the same addess.
A new reuse_port option has been introduced to socket_address_listen()
to set the option as part of socket initialization.
