Lennart Poettering ec4b9671b3 resolvectl: color "comment" output grey
Let's de-emphasize the "comment" output a bit, by making it grey.

This is high-level functionality, and fits better in shared/ (which is for
our executables), than in basic/ (which is also for libraries).

Lennart Poettering 37ec0fdd34 tree-wide: add clickable man page link to all --help texts
This is a bit like the info link in most of GNU's --help texts, but we
don't do info but man pages, and we make them properly clickable on
terminal supporting that, because awesome.

I think it's generally advisable to link up our (brief) --help texts and
our (more comprehensive) man pages a bit, so this should be an easy and
straight-forward way to do it.

Lennart Poettering 0c69794138 tree-wide: remove Lennart's copyright lines
These lines are generally out-of-date, incomplete and unnecessary. With
SPDX and git repository much more accurate and fine grained information
about licensing and authorship is available, hence let's drop the
per-file copyright notice. Of course, removing copyright lines of others
is problematic, hence this commit only removes my own lines and leaves
all others untouched. It might be nicer if sooner or later those could
go away too, making git the only and accurate source of authorship
information.

Lennart Poettering 818bf54632 tree-wide: drop 'This file is part of systemd' blurb
This part of the copyright blurb stems from the GPL use recommendations:

https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.en.html

The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.

hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.

Lennart Poettering ef31828d06 tree-wide: unify how we define bit mak enums
Let's always write "1 << 0", "1 << 1" and so on, except where we need
more than 31 flag bits, where we write "UINT64(1) << 0", and so on to force
64bit values.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 854a42fb2e analyze: add 'cat-config' verb
This is used as 'systemd-analyze show-config systemd/logind.conf', which
will dump
   /etc/systemd/system/user@.service
   /etc/systemd/system/user@.service.d/*.conf
   /run/systemd/system/user@.service.d/*.conf
   /usr/local/lib/systemd/system/user@.service.d/*.conf
   /usr/lib/systemd/system/user@.service.d/*.conf

The idea is to make it easy to dump the configuration using the same locations
and order that systemd programs use themselves (including masking, in the right
order, etc.). This is the generic variant that works with any configuration
scheme that follows the same general rules:

$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/system.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/user.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/logind.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/sleep.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/journald.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/journal-remote.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/journal-upload.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/coredump.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/resolved.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/timesyncd.conf
$ systemd-analyze cat-config udev/udev.conf

Lennart Poettering 23b27b39d2 terminal: add internal API to format URLs for display in capable terminals
Newer terminals (in particular gnome-terminal) understand special escape
sequence for formatting clickable links. Let's support that to make our
tool output more clickable where that's appropriate.

For details see this:

https://gist.github.com/egmontkob/eb114294efbcd5adb1944c9f3cb5feda

The one big issue is that 'less' currently doesn't grok this, and
doesn't ignore sequence like regular terminal implementations do if they
don't support it. Hence for now, let's disable URL output if a pager is
used. We should revisit that though as soon as less added support for it
and enough time passed for it to enter various distributions.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 11a1589223 tree-wide: drop license boilerplate
Files which are installed as-is (any .service and other unit files, .conf
files, .policy files, etc), are left as is. My assumption is that SPDX
identifiers are not yet that well known, so it's better to retain the
extended header to avoid any doubt.

I also kept any copyright lines. We can probably remove them, but it'd nice to
obtain explicit acks from all involved authors before doing that.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek f6a8265b9a core: drop unnecessary __useless_struct_to_allow_trailing_semicolon__
ISO C does not allow empty statements outside of functions, and gcc
will warn the trailing semicolons when compiling with -pedantic:

  warning: ISO C does not allow extra ‘;’ outside of a function [-Wpedantic]

But our code cannot compile with -pedantic anyway, at least because

  warning: ISO C does not support ‘__PRETTY_FUNCTION__’ predefined identifier [-Wpedantic]

Without -pedatnic, clang and even old gcc (3.4) generate no warnings about
those semicolons, so let's just drop __useless_struct_to_allow_trailing_semicolon__.

Lennart Poettering c6063244db terminal-util: when making /dev/null or the console stdio, forget cached terminal features
Let's forget all relevant terminal features we learnt when we make a
console or /dev/null stdin/stdout/stderr.

Also, while we are at it, let's drop the various _unlikely_ and
_likely_ annotiations around the terminal feature caches. In many cases
we call the relevant functions only once in which cases the annotations
are likely to do just harm and no good. After all we can't know if the
specific code will call us just once or many times...

Lennart Poettering 8854d79504 terminal-util: rework acquire_terminal()
This modernizes acquire_terminal() in a couple of ways:

1. The three boolean arguments are replaced by a flags parameter, that
   should be more descriptive in what it does.

2. We now properly handle inotify queue overruns

3. We use _cleanup_ for closing the fds now, to shorten the code quite a
   bit.

Behaviour should not be altered by this.

Werner Fink 6af621248f ask-password: ask for passphrases not only on the first console of /dev/console
but also on all other consoles. This does help on e.g. mainframes
where often a serial console together with other consoles are
used. Even rack based servers attachted to both a serial console
as well as having a virtual console do sometimes miss a connected
monitor.

To be able to ask on all terminal devices of /dev/console the devices
are collected. If more than one device are found, then on each of the
terminals a inquiring task for passphrase is forked and do not return
to the caller.

Every task has its own session and its own controlling terminal.
If one of the tasks does handle a password, the remaining tasks
will be terminated.

Also let contradictory options on the command of
systemd-tty-ask-password-agent fail.

Spwan for each device of the system console /dev/console a own process.
Replace the system call wait() with with system call waitid().
Use SIGTERM instead of SIGHUP to get unresponsive childs down.

Port the collect_consoles() function forward to a pulbic and strv
based function "get_kernel_consoles()" in terminal-util.c and use this
in tty-ask-password-agent.c.

Lennart Poettering 40e1f4ea74 machined: when opening a shell via machined, pass tty fds in
With this change we'll open the shell's tty right from machined and then
pass it to the transient unit we create. This way we make sure the pty
is opened exactly as long as the transient service is around, and no
longer, and vice versa. This way pty forwarders do not have to deal with
EIO problems due to vhangup, as the pty is open all the time from the
point we set things up to the point where the service goes away.

Lennart Poettering 2c6c4ab2f5 logind: remove warn_melody() logic
The internal speaker is usually not available on modern latops that
support suspend, and even if it is available in the hardware, most
distributions turned support for it off in the kernel. And even if it is
enabled, it's probably still a bad idea to make use of it for the
suspend-failures. If anything a proper sound should be played.

Long story short, let's remove support of this anachronism.
