sd-netlink is not public yet, so we can change the interface.
I did not touch interfaces of functions like sd_netlink_wait() and
sd_rtnl_message_new_link() which do not modify the object that is passed in,
because in the future we might want to change the code to e.g. take a
reference to the parent object or otherwise require a non-const reference.
It is natural that n_attiributes is less than type. But in that case,
the message does not contain any message about the type. So, we should
not abort execution with assertion, but just return -ENODATA.
Media Access Control Security (MACsec) is an 802.1AE IEEE

Same as with the other users, any non-trivial use of the objects requires
use from a single thread only or external locking. Using atomic operations
just for reference counts is not useful.

The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.
hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.
Double newlines (i.e. one empty lines) are great to structure code. But
let's avoid triple newlines (i.e. two empty lines), quadruple newlines,
quintuple newlines, …, that's just spurious whitespace.
It's an easy way to drop 121 lines of code, and keeps the coding style
of our sources a bit tigther.
Files which are installed as-is (any .service and other unit files, .conf
files, .policy files, etc), are left as is. My assumption is that SPDX
identifiers are not yet that well known, so it's better to retain the
extended header to avoid any doubt.
I also kept any copyright lines. We can probably remove them, but it'd nice to
obtain explicit acks from all involved authors before doing that.
This macro will read a pointer of any type, return it, and set the
pointer to NULL. This is useful as an explicit concept of passing
ownership of a memory area between pointers.
This takes inspiration from Rust:

and was suggested by Alan Jenkins (@sourcejedi).
It drops ~160 lines of code from our codebase, which makes me like it.
Also, I think it clarifies passing of ownership, and thus helps
readability a bit (at least for the initiated who know the new macro)
This also adds the ability to incorporate arrays into netlink messages
and to determine when a netlink message is too big, used by some generic
netlink protocols.
Routing Policy rule manipulates rules in the routing policy database control the
route selection algorithm.

We don't have plural in the name of any other -util files and this
inconsistency trips me up every time I try to type this file name
from memory. "formats-util" is even hard to pronounce.
On larger systems we might very well see messages with thousands of parts.
When we free them, we must avoid recursing into each part, otherwise we
very likely get stack overflows.
Fix sd_netlink_message_unref() to use an iterative approach rather than
recursion (also avoid tail-recursion in case it is not optimized by the
compiler).
Throughout the tree there's spurious use of spaces separating ++ and --
operators from their respective operands. Make ++ and -- operator
consistent with the majority of existing uses; discard the spaces.
GLIB has recently started to officially support the gcc cleanup
attribute in its public API, hence let's do the same for our APIs.
With this patch we'll define an xyz_unrefp() call for each public
xyz_unref() call, to make it easy to use inside a
__attribute__((cleanup())) expression. Then, all code is ported over to
make use of this.
The new calls are also documented in the man pages, with examples how to
use them (well, I only added docs where the _unref() call itself already
had docs, and the examples, only cover sd_bus_unrefp() and
sd_event_unrefp()).
This also renames sd_lldp_free() to sd_lldp_unref(), since that's how we
tend to call our destructors these days.
Note that this defines no public macro that wraps gcc's attribute and
makes it easier to use. While I think it's our duty in the library to
make our stuff easy to use, I figure it's not our duty to make gcc's own
features easy to use on its own. Most likely, client code which wants to
make use of this should define its own:
#define _cleanup_(function) __attribute__((cleanup(function)))
Or similar, to make the gcc feature easier to use.
Making this logic public has the benefit that we can remove three header
files whose only purpose was to define these functions internally.

There are more than enough calls doing string manipulations to deserve
its own files, hence do something about it.
This patch also sorts the #include blocks of all files that needed to be
updated, according to the sorting suggestions from CODING_STYLE. Since
pretty much every file needs our string manipulation functions this
effectively means that most files have sorted #include blocks now.
Also touches a few unrelated include files.
By default we set as NLM_F_CREATE | NLM_F_EXCL in
sd_rtnl_message_new_link
But incase of bridge we need to set NLM_F_REQUEST | NLM_F_ACK.
If NLM_F_EXCL is set then we are unable to set the parameters. As bridge
supports setting properties after creation not during creation.
Though currently unused by us, netlink attribute types support embedding flags to indicate
if the type is encoded in network byte-order and if it is a nested attribute. Read out
these flags when parsing the message.
We will now swap the byteorder in case it is non-native when reading out integers (though
this is not needed by any of the types we currently support). We do not enforce the NESTED
flag, as the kernel gets this wrong in many cases.
Instead of representing containers as several arrays, make a new
netlink_container struct and keep one array of these structs. We
also introduce netlink_attribute structs that in the future will
hold meta-information about each atribute.
